Booking a Discounted Disney Hotel

Booking a room at a Disney Resort:

What you need to know:
  1. You need to be a Disney Cast Member to get a discount.
  2. If you haven’t arrived yet or have not received your BlueID at Traditions, then you’re not officially a Cast Member yet.

Looking for a hotel for arrival day (check-in at Flamingo Crossings)?   You don’t get qualify for a Disney discount so Navigator recommends that you consider one of the dix Flamingo Crossings Hotels.   They are nice accommodations and nothing beats the convenience of being so close on check-in day.

Once you have a BlueID you can book a Disney Resort Room at a great discount.
There are two discount categories “Cast Discount” and Friends & Family Discounts.    The Cast Discount gets you a little bit better rate but requires you to be on the reservation and staying in the room you’re booking.    The Friends & Family discount still get you a great rate and you basically book the room in someone elses name, provide them the confirmation number and everything else is up to them.

  • Every Disney resort participates in the discounts but they don’t always have discounted rooms available.
  • You have to book via CastLife or by using the dedicated cast reservation line.
  • YOU CANNOT just try and book at a Disney website or through a travel agent and then say “I’m a Cast Member, apply my discount.”  It doesn’t work that way.

Booking a room is a very easy process. Once you’re a Cast Member (CP) you have access to CastLife and from there you’ll find WDW Resort Discounts.

All of the details and rules are found there.

When you book a room you’ll have to either visit the report to show your BlueID or you’ll have to follow the process to email a picture of it to them.

Common questions:

Can I add a dining plan to a discounted resort reservation?

No.

No.  But you can purchase tickets at a 10% discount at any Guest Relations location.

The rule says “yes you do”.   Honestly, it’s not worth getting caught breaking the rules just to get a slightly better discount. Why risk it?
If friends or family are coming to visit and you’ll be staying with them then book the Cast Discount.  If you don’t think you’ll be able to stay with them, because you probably be working for part of their visit — just book the Friends & Family discount.

You certainly can’t do it online.  Your options are to check to see if there is a discounted room available for your dates. If there is one, book it and cancel your other reservation.
Or, call the Cast Reservation Line and see if they can help you.

Online, on CastLife, in the WDW Resort Discounts sections.
