Waiting to request a needed Medical Accommodation (for work) can be costly (real dollars).
When applying for and possibly accepting a role in the Disney College Program, the applicant agrees to accept any CP role in any location. Even once a role is assigned, Disney can change the role or location at any time to meet their business and staffing needs.
If A CP will need an approved accommodation to successfully complete any of the possible CP Roles, they need to apply for that accommodation ASAP as after the offer.
Common Mistakes and Misinformation about Medical Accommodations:
(These are actual comments from CPs)
1. I’m bringing a “note from my Doctor”. They have to accept that. Wrong! You need to use Disney
forms and follow the Disney process.
2. I am waiting until I am assigned to a role, and then I will decide if I need to let them know about
my possible accommodation needs. Wrong.

3. If I can’t do the role because of my medical condition, they will figure that out during training and
just assign me to another role — and that is way easier than having to go to the doctor and doing all
the forms for the medical accommodation thing. Wrong.
4. I would need an accommodation for some roles, but I didn’t list any of those in my preferences,
and you’re guaranteed to get at least one of the roles you listed. Wrong.
5. I did request a Medical Accommodation. I was very clear with the Recruiter during the interview and explained exactly what I needed…so they can’t say they don’t have my request. Wrong.
Disney is a large organization with a process for everything. Medical Accommodation requests go through a rigorous and lengthy process for approval. Incoming CPs also need to realize that there isn’t an Accommodation Team just for CPs. The team supports all of Walt Disney World and more…and that’s about 75,000 people.
Starting the process to request a Medical Accommodation once you arrive for your program or start training can leave you sitting at Flamingo, unpaid, while your request is being processed. Meanwhile, you still owe the rent while no paychecks are coming in. Disney is not obligated to find something for you to do or create a role for you in the interim.
If a Medical Accommodation would be needed for ANY ROLE or ANY LOCATION, the time to submit the forms is shortly after accepting the offer and picking arrival and departure dates.
